Decolonising Arabic Type

As part of my thesis submission, I conducted a workshop with a content solution projected in the form of worksheets. The objective of the workshop is to create an awareness of the subtle loss of culture in Arabic script.

This study paves an opening for type designers of Non-Latin scripts to decolonize their views in approaching the process of type design. The term 'colonization' is not only imposed on physical matters but on methodologies as well.

A website is also created to explain further about the Arabic type design process methodologies as researched by Thomas Milo. The website also helps to document the process of the workshop as well as gather findings from the samples provided by the workshop participants. Visit the page here.
